DS280DF810: Swapping between N/P pairs

Part Number: DS280DF810

For individual pairs, does this part allow for p/n swapping? So on lane 0, can i route the _p signal into the _n pin and rout the _n signal into the _p pin? I know you are allowed to swap channels (for example channel 0 and 1), but not sure if I can swap the n/p pairs with each other within the same channel.

  • Hi Brandon,

There is no problem to swap P/N on the input and/or output sides to get better routing.  If you need to invert the polarity you can program the device internally as well.

    From the datasheet:

    9.3.12 Output Driver Polarity Inversion

In some applications, it may be necessary to invert the polarity of the data transmitted from the retimer. To invert

the polarity of the data, read back the FIR polarity settings for the pre, main and post cursor taps and then invert

    these bits.

    Regards,
