TMDS181: I2C_EN pin set to high and low question

Part Number: TMDS181

Hi TI experts,

I have some questions about I2C_EN behavior.

For I2C_EN set to High, all of the register is default value. Therefore, EQ mode is adaptive EQ mode and dev function mode is "Automatic redriver to retimer crossover at 1.0 Gbps".

For I2C_EN set to low and EQ_SEL is N.C. Therefore, EQ mode is also adaptive EQ mode. How about the dev function mode?

Do both of adaptive EQ mode have the same capability?

BR,

Sitting

  • Hi Sitting,

Yes, if I2C_EN is enabled, the default register settings are EQ mode is adaptive EQ mode, and the dev function mode is Automatic redriver to retimer crossover at 1.0 Gbps. These are the same settings if the TMDS181 is in I2C_EN disabled mode, and EQ_SEL is NC. Adaptive EQ modes are the same for I2C_EN on or off.

Please note that the TX_TERM_CTL automatically sets in I2C_EN disabled mode, but must be manually set in I2C_EN enabled mode.

    Regards,
    JMMN
