Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-01243, TPS65988, , TPS65987D, TUSB8041
Hi All, Doc1.pdf
I have attached here a PDF with two pages that shows what I would like to accomplish.
I need a USB 3.0 hub solution that would at least has one port as an upstream (connecting to a computer) and two downstream ports (one connecting to a USB 3.0 camera and one to a motherboard).
If possible, I would like to know the answers to the following two questions:
1- Could I use the "USB Type-C™ and Power Delivery Minidock EVM (TIDA-01243)" (or another TI USB hub available such as "TPS65988 EVM") as my USB 3.0 hub shown in green in the first page attached?
- Basically, it has to be able to have a USB PD 3.0 Type-C upstream connector to communicate with a computer and be able to receive 12V and 1 to 2A of power.
- Also, for it to have two down stream ports, one which is a normal USB 3.0, while the other is a USB PD 3.0 connection to be connected to a motherboard (it should be able to provide the motherboard with a 12V and 1 to 2A of power while be able to communicate with it.
2- Could we use the "TPS65982 EVM" (as shown in red in page 2 attached) to negotiate the power requirements with the USB hub and to make this power and data communicated available to the mother board (e.g. in the form of 4 wires connection to the motherboard, i.e: +12V, GND, +Data and -Data?
Please let me know if any of this is not clear enough. I would be glad to answer further questions about this. Looking forward to your feedback.
