Part Number: TCA9539

Hello Team,

My customer wanted to verify what version of the I2C speficcation is supported by TCA9539, PCA9517-Q1 and SN74LVCG66? He is looking for clarification which version of I2C, 2.1 through 6.0

  • Hi Julio,

We are checking this and will get back to you later today.

  • Hey Julio,

TCA9539 looks like it was released in 2009 in which I2C spec was on version 2.3 at the time. It is our pin to pin replacement of our older device (PCA9539) which was made in ~2005 meaning that device supported I2C Spec 2.1. TCA9539 however should still work with I2C spec 2.6. So to answer your question, TCA9539 should be compatible with I2C specs 2.1 through 2.6.

There are some parts of the I2C spec it does not do such as a general call, clock stretching, software reset, and device ID however these are optional supported features listed in the 2.6 spec.

PCA9517-Q1 is not a device we have auto qualified, we have TCA9517-Q1 instead. All static offset buffers that I am aware of do not meet I2C spec but rather are I2C compatible (not I2C compliant).

I can't find a SN74LVCG66 online. Is this some kind of custom device? Or did you perhaps put in the wrong part number?

    -Bobby
