TCA9539-Q1: Confirm if after setting a GPIO pin to output, it will return to floating after power is turned off

Part Number: TCA9539-Q1

Hi team,

Our customer would like to use one of TCA9539-Q1 I/O (pin 6) outputs to control the enable pin of the power supply of their entire system. They would like to know whether TCA9539-Q1's I/O ports are floating when the chip is not powered? If after setting a GPIO pin to output, it will return to floating after power is turned off.

Please let me know if you have any questions for the customer.

Thanks,

Jonathan

  • Hi Jonathan,

Yes, the IOs are high-Z when unpowered and are initialized as inputs (meaning they are not driven high or low) upon power-up.  Please make sure to follow the power ramp recommendations in Section 10.1 of the datasheet in order to ensure the device initializes itself properly.

    Regards,
    Max
