Can the LED_SPEED pin be configured as default HIGH during NO LINK?

Hi expert,

My customer found their DP83848's LED_SPEED pin is driven low and light the LED on, indicating 100 Mb/s of Ethernet link even no any Ethernet cable is connected. Engineer think this may misleading the user that the LINK is good. They want to know if it is possible to configure the device to turn off the LED_SPEED LED when no LINK is settled? How?

Hi John,

Register 0x18h has configuration options for LED (mentioned in the datasheet). That will help customer chose the required configuration of this LED.

Yes i have noted this register, however the datasheet does not give detail explanation.

There are two bits seem to be related to configuration of LED_SPEED pin: bit 5 and bit 2. Please let me know which bit can implement this function?
