LM8335: Multiple queries on RFFE-GPIO expander

Part Number: LM8335

Hi

We have been using LM8335 as an RFFE to GPIO interface that can handle 26MHz RFFE signals. However, we would like to know the following as per the customer's request:

1. Which physical layer specification does LM8335 use? D-PHY or M-PHY?

2. The speed requirement (LS or HS).

3. LM8335 currently supports MIPI RFFE interface v1.10. Any future release that could support RFFE v2.0?

Kind Regards,

Arun

  • Hello Arun,

    1) Which physical layer specification does LM8335 use? D-PHY or M-PHY?

-I do not know much about these two physical layer specifications but from looking at the two through google search, it indicates both of them use differential signaling. The LM8335 does not use differential signaling for its SCLK and SDATA. RFFE standard does not specify any requirement of M-PHY or D-PHY.

    2) The speed requirement (LS or HS).

This is an excerpt from the RFFE spec (version 1_10)

The device will work between 32kHz to 26MHz just as RFFE standard requires.

    3) LM8335 currently supports MIPI RFFE interface v1.10. Any future release that could support RFFE v2.0?

I have not heard of any new devices in the pipeline for RFFE protocol.

    Thanks,

    -Bobby
