Can you suggest any isolator like isolation amplifier

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8873, DRV8874, AMC1200, AMC1300

Hi, support team

My customer has the questions as follow:

I am using DRV8874 and DRV8873 for motor control for the safety of my MCU
I want to achieve isolation so for PWM
I am using optocoupler but I also want to current sense
so I want to know that How I can read current in these two driver while maintaining isolation
can you suggest any isolator like isolation amplifier

Thanks so much.

Best regards,
Yuki

  • Hi Yuki,

We have several isolated amplifiers that can help with this: www.ti.com/.../products.html

Do you know what optical isolator is currently being used?

Do you know what level of isolation is required?

The current output from these motor controller's looks to be fairly low, around 6A, so I would suggest one of the +/-250mV input devices such as AMC1300B or AMC1300. If reinforced isolation is not required and basic isolation is sufficient, AMC1200 may be a good choice.
