ISO7820: Bidirectional Differential Isolator Conecpt

Part Number: ISO7820
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO1412, ISO1042

There is a request to have a design with 50 differential channels from a scsi connector out to another connector.

The signals are asked to be isolated.

Initially, only thinking we wanted straight isolation, we looked at the ISO7820.

As time progressed, additional request came in.

Question: What is a best device for this application? Requirements: Differential, Bidirectional, multichannel, 3,3V

  • Hello,

    Thank you for your question!

There are various types of signals that can be broadly classified into 2 categories: logic CMOS/TTL signals and special interface signals.

For logic signals, you can use digital isolators such as the ISO77xx, ISO78xx, and ISO67xx.

For specialty signals, you would have to use transceivers. For example, for the RS-485 interface, ISO1412 can be used. Another example, for CAN interface, ISO1042 can be used.

It looks like SCSI uses logic TTL signals. For these types of signals, the customer can use the digital isolators mentioned above. These digital isolators are available in 1 to 6 channel options. If the customer can provide more information about SCSI, we can provide better suggestions.
