SN54ALS1034: Grounding the Output of the buffer

Can the output of this device be grounded?

The Buffer drives an analog switch , but the analog switch will direct the output signal of the buffer to Gnd or receive the signal.

Please advise.

    Grounding the output would not be recommended.
    This device does not have a short circuit specification. However, it does have in the recommended operating conditions an Io current that is specified at 1/2 of short circuit current.
    If the duration is short, I would recommend limiting the current to less than the maximum specified 112mA Io current.
