SN74LVCH16T245-EP: Debounce time

Part Number: SN74LVCH16T245-EP

Hello Guys,

Good day.

What is the debounce time on input "A" of the device sn74lvch16t245-ep?

i.e. Our customer is trying to understand what duration of glitches on the input signal will be filtered out by the device and not change its state due to those glitches.

Thanks and regards,

Art

  • There is no deglitch mechanism.

If you know the characteristics of the glitch, you could use the IBHx and CI parameters to compute how long it takes the input signal to cross VIL or VIH. This is probably not useful information.

  • Hello,

Some more specific information on the issue customer is trying to understand:

"Signals are going from "A" to "B" on the device. VCCA is at 5V and VCCB is at 3.3V. Input at "A" is coming from the connector which momentarily opens up during temperature transition. I have a 1000 pF capacitor on this input line before going into device. I am trying to figure out what duration of glitch on the input signal will be filtered out by the device (due to connector issue) without changing it's state"

Let me know what your thoughts are.

    Thanks and regards,

    Art

  • The input signal might switch anywhere between VIL and VIH (although the actual switching threshold will be near VCC/2). You have to compute how long it takes the signal to go from 0 V to VIL,  or from VCC to VIH. The input capacitance is typcially much less than 10 pF, so you can ignore it; just compute (or simulate) the 1 nF capacitor alone.
