Rad Tolerant Dgipot

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPL0102-EP, TPL1401

Hi,

May I know if TI got Rad Tolerant Digitally controlled Potentiometer (DCP) in the space portfolio

Best Regards,

Kavindu

  • No. The best you could get would be the TPL0102-EP.

What is the actual application? It might be possible to use a switch or a DAC.

  • Thanks for the feedback.

We are looking for a DCP for high altitude aerospace application which should be tolerant to SEU/MBU. All the DCPs that I checked in the market has got a volatile memory(register) to retain the wiper position value. So we are looking for a rad hard/tolerant DCP or a one with the wiper position is updated directly from a non volatile memory, because non-volatile  memories are least susceptible for SEU/MBU

  • DCPs with non-voltatile memory load the settings only at power up, or when triggered by the controller (for example, the TPL1401 has the NVM_RELOAD bit in register D3 for this). So you could just as well use a DCP with voltatile memory and regularly update it from the controller.

I would suggest to change your circuit so that it works with a space-rated DAC.
