SN74LVC245A: Can SN74LVC245 be used with Vcc=5V and input signal Vih=5v, vil=0v, frequency: 4M, dt/dv_max=5ns/v?

Part Number: SN74LVC245A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74AHC245, SN74LV245A, SN74LXC8T245, SN74LV245AT, SN74AHCT245

hi,

In SN74LVC245A datasheet, its recommended Vcc range is 1.65v--3.6V, but its VCC_max is up to  6.5v.

Can SN74LVC245A VCC be normally operated at 5V?Especially, with below conditions, what are possible risks?

       #1,Vcc=5V, input signal is Vih=5v, Vil=0v. Signal frequency is 4M with dt/dv_max=5ns/V.

 #2,Vcc=5V, input signal is Vih=3.3v, Vil=0v. Signal frequency is 4M with dt/dv_max=5ns/V.

  • When you go beyond the recommended operating conditions, the electrical characteristics are not longer guaranteed.

    For a 5 V supply, use a 5 V device like the SN74AHC245 or SN74LV245A.

3.3 V signals do not work with normal 5 V CMOS inputs. For those, use a device with TTL-compatible inputs, e.g., SN74AHCT245 or SN74LV245AT, or a voltage translator like the SN74LXC8T245.
