SN74ABT241A: Can this be used to safely drive an LED Cathode (Anode at 5.0 volts, Vcc at 5.0 volts)?

Will the output stage get damaged if the pin is pulled to a higher voltage than it's being driven to by the chip? Also, will there be any current flow?

And if this isn't a good idea, any suggestions for a suitable cheap 5.0 volt, 64 mA hex or octal driver?

Without a current-limiting resistor, this can easily exceed the absolute maximum rating of 128 mA:

With current limiting, this will work.

(I'd recommend the TPL7407LA, but it is out of stock.)

Thanks for the info and graph, it does look like it should work (I will of course be using current-limiting resistors; my main concern was whether the high-side drivers would be damaged and/or sink some current.

And the TPL7407LA would be perfect, if only!
