TXS0206: ESD protection for CD pins

The CD pin is just pulled up inside the IC.
Is external ESD protection required?

Greetings,

This device includes the +/- 8kV contact discharge on the card (B-port) side. Normally no external ESD protection is required.

Hi Jack,

In the datasheet, WP and CD are pull-ups only.
Please tell me why this is not a problem.

Hello,

WD and CD is are both output pins. You are right that they include pull up resistors, but they are internal pull ups (resembled by Rwp and Rcd).

I know.
I am asking if there is no need for ESD protection outside the IC while WP and CD are only pulled up internally.

Hello,

There is no requirement for any external ESD protection for this device, therefore it is not needed.
