Can we draw 20mA from each channel continuously without thermal issues? We are connecting HFBR-1521Z transmitter to this SN74LXC8T245. How much current can draw safely assuming for long run of 10 years.

The max current for each channel is 32 mA as per datasheet.

This is safe. The worst-case power dissipation is 55 mW for all pins, and the temperature increase above ambient is about 6.5 °C.

Thank you for the confirmation. How you calculated the power dissipation. In our application each channel will draw 20 mA at 10 kHz frequency with duty cycle maximum of 95%. Is the power dissipation increase with frequency.
