This is not an analog buffer. The input must be below V_IL or above V_IH, and it must never float. (See [FAQ] How does a slow or floating input affect a CMOS device?)

This device has an open-drain output, so it either drives low, or is high impedance. The high-level voltage is determined only by the pull-up resistor.

I cannot make any comments about your measurements without seeing the schematic.

Please find the schematics file attached.

Even with the Input pulled down to 100K we can still see the input voltage for around 1 Volt.

One more observation is that if we force the input to low, then the output is low but not 0V like working ICs but have a 400mV offset.

If this is only one board, the device might be damaged. Does this still happen when you replace the chip?

When we replace the chip it was working fine. Do you see any challenges in the schematics for the damage? Any reason you can see for the damage?

The usual cause is overvoltage, at any of the pins. Where does the USB_TOUCH signals come from? Is there any ESD protection?

USB_TOUCH Comes from a different touch sensor board. There is no ESD protection.

Please find the implementation on the touch sensor board, The net "Touch" connects to "USB_TOUCH" in our board. There no chance for direct contact towards this line.

The overvoltage might have come through any of the pins. It might have happened when (un)plugging the cable, through touching or arcing.

Hi Clemens, The cable is single-time plug-in, only during manufacturing. But we were working on a proto unit, which we used to unplug the connector many times. So this could also be a reason. But there won't be a chance for unplugging the cable in the final unit and so hoping that we're safe.
