TXS0102: Confusion data rate in TXS0102 datasheet

Hi,

I am confusing little bit datasheet parameters.

For the timing requirements data rate given in 6.6, the maximum speed is given as 21 Mbps (push-pull) and 2 Mbps (open-drain). 
However, in switching characteristics (6.9), the same speeds are given as a minimum with the maximum data rate parameter.

     


1) How should I interpret this parameter?

2) What is the difference between timing requirement and switching characteristics? 
Do the requirements for the timing signal and the switching characteristics describe the features of the level shifter?

The timing requirements describe what your circuit must do; the switching characteristics describe the chip. Your circuit must use a frequency that is at most 21 Mbps; the maximum frequency that the chip can support is at least 21 Mbps.

"the maximum frequency that the chip can support is at least 21 Mbps." maximum frequency and at least? Sorry, I don't understand. Max.21 Mbps (10.5 MHz) or at least 21 Mbps (10.5 MHz)?

The TXS0102 will be able to support up to 21Mbps across all corner cases and under the configuration at which it was tested in:

I would further recommend prototyping with the EVM for further analysis for how the device would perform under your specific setup.

Depending on manufacturing variations and temperature, the maximum speed of some chips will be higher than 21 Mbps.

For example,
chip 1 at 25 °C can support up to 25 Mbps;
chip 1 at 85 °C can support up to 22 Mbps;
chip 2 at 25 °C can support up to 24 Mbps;
chip 2 at 85 °C can support up to 21 Mbps.

These are four different maximum values. What TI guarantees for all chips under all circumstances is the smallest of these values, i.e., the minimum maximum.

Don't you think it's strange that the maximum data rate in one table and the minimum data rate in the other are the same value?

No, they must be the same. The largest speed that you circuit is allowed to use is the worst-case speed that TI guarantees is available.
