SN74AVC fan-out and applications question

Hello,

I have a question regarding this circuit: I'm also using exactly the same reference for level conversion (from 3 V to 1.8 V) and it works. My problem is the current consumption (about 7 mA) and I can't set the circuit to I off current.

Please advise how can I get that low current consumption.

Please make sure that input is at high or low when device is in standby mode.

Hello Wei,

I am using 2 microcontrollers and trying to communicate between them. The device works perfectly. Considering I'm using microcontrollers with dedicated UART lines, the levels are very stable at required values (0, 1.8 V or 3 V). The pins of the device are connected as follows:

VCCa and 1DIR are connected to 3 V, 2 DIR directly to GND, VCCb connected to 1.8 V. 1 OE and 2 OE are connected to GND through 10 K resistor; 1B1 - Rx (1.8V); 2B2 - Tx (1.8 V); 1A1 - Tx (3 V); 2A2 - Rx (3V)

Hi,

If 7mA current is generated during normal operation, I think it is reasonable value for 24bit translator. If device is put into partial power down mode with fixed status input, the device can go into low power mode.

The problem is I have 7 mA during IDLE (no communication) and I don't know how can I partially power down the device? I consider such a consumption when having no communication to be big.
