Dual buffer

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74LVC2G07-EP

Dear TI

I have seen this Integrated Chip called dual buffer chipset

I wanted to know what is the purpose of this chipset on any board.

i mean what purpose does it serve. i mean does it speed up processor execution or

something else.

Regards

Nick

  • Hi Nick ,

Do you have any device in particular you are referring to ? Buffers are required for signal integrity and for driving large loads . Depending on the device families , they can have higher or lower drive strength .
  • thanks shreyas

i did not understand what you said like signal integrity for driving large loads
are you saying that processor uses this chip to store data instead of RAM
or some of the load from the processor like executing intstruction is given to this dual buffer chipset
i am bit confused why this chipset is usually required on some hardware platforms

    regards

  • Hi Nick ,
Signal integrity is when there are long traces on the board , the signal tend to get weak by the time it arrives at the receivers . The high and low might not be recognized correctly at the receiving end . Buffers are placed in between to strengthen the weak signals .sort of power amplification for weak signals .
you can find more online research materials on why use buffers in electronics .
