Could shorting outputs cause the component to burn down?
For example when shorted like shown on the picture with red.

If you take figure 31 of Input and Output Characteristics of Digital Integrated Circuits at 5-V Supply Voltage (SZZA008) and mirror one of the curves, they intersect at about 42 mA:
The absolute maximum rating is 35 mA.
However, the A pins are inputs, and have a very high impedance. In this circuit, the worst that could happen is that the wrong signal is pulled low.
