SN74ACT00-Q1: Difference between 74AHCT00Q-Q1 and 74ACT00-Q1

Part Number: SN74ACT00-Q1

Hi, I would like to understand the difference between 74AHCT00Q-Q1 and 74ACT00-Q1. The voltage levels (supply voltage, input LOW and HIGH levels) are identical, the propagation delays are also same (8ns, as seen on third page of the respective datasheets). The drive capability of 74AHCT is lower (8mA vs 24mA of the other), but otherwise they look identical. Is the current capacity the only difference?

  • Hi Rohit,

They both are from different family of devices. The AHCT is the more recent one compared to ACT and internally the transistors will be different in terms of process and technology.
I would consider using SN74AHCT if designing for a new application.
