SN74AHC14: About input current and output status

Part Number: SN74AHC14

Hi,

Could you tell me about SN74AHC14?
I am trying to use the following schematic.

1. Is there a possibility that output will be in undefined status?

2. Could you tell me the input current to A and the current consumption of the SN74AHC14 ?.
And Please point out if there is a possibility of latch-up.

Best Regards,
Yusuke

  • Hello Yusuke-san,

The SN74AHC14 is a Schmitt-trigger inverter, as shown in your schematic. The output depends on the input directly, however the input threshold values change based on the output state. When the input is between VT+ and VT-, the output could be HIGH or LOW -- this is not an "unknown" state.

    Here's an example simulation:

The hysteresis of the device prevents it from switching multiple times, even though the signal is nonmonotonic.

For your second question, the input current is listed clearly in the datasheet:

For latch up, the front page of the datasheet lists the performance of the device:

    * Latch-Up Performance Exceeds 250 mA Per JESD 17

  • Emrys-san,

Thank you for your kind support.
    I understand it.

    Best Regards,
    Yusuke
