SN54AC244-SP: Radiation tolerance information for two "space-rated" parts.

Part Number: SN54AC244-SP
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN54LVCH244A-SP

I am using two parts that TI's datasheet states are qualified for space: SN54AC244-SP (SMD 5962-8755201VSA) and SN54LVCH244A-SP (SMD 5962-9754201VSA). The datasheet goes on to say that space qualified parts are "radiation-tolerant, ceramic packaging and qualified for space-based applications." Is there any [a] radiation tolerance data, [b] tolerant design by analysis, or [c] space heritage for these parts that you can provide? I have exchanged emails with a sales reps and customer server to no avail. Also, if an NDA is required, please put me in contact with the appropriate person to get in place. Thanks.

  • Hello,

That statement from the datasheet is a generic description of space grade products.   Not all of our older space grade products have radiation reports available and I do not believe there is a report for either of these two.

The person who can provide details on space heritage is currently out of the office but should be able to provide an answer on Monday.

  • I can confirm that we do not have radiation reports for these devices.

There may be third party data available.  However, the database of known reports does not have these listed.  However, it is not necessarily complete.

The vast majority of space grade logic performs around 10krad for TID.

There are several devices that have been TID improved in the AC family that can perform up to 50krad.

These are the AC00, AC02, and the AC14 in the -SP releases only.
