SN74LVCC3245A: The Absolute Max Ratings include the Input clamp current when going negative, but not in excess of the rail. Is this also 50mA or some lower number.

    Welcome to e2e!

    The -50mA indicates that there is a negative clamp diode which will be fwd biased when the input voltage goes <0V and the current must be limited <50mA before there could be reliability issues.

    It also indicates that there is no positive clamp diode to Vcc and that the output positive voltage must not exceed Vcc voltage.

    You could also consider using the SN74LVC8T245 which is p2P with this device and has fully configurable voltage supply rails( Vcca and Vccb 1.65 <> 5.5V)
