SN54ACT244: Is there any short circuit protection at the output

Dear sir,

we are using this buffer to send a decision logic to the other system situated physically away by 1 meter.

we are worried in case of short circuit situations at output. Whether SN54ACT244 has short circuit protection scheme internal to the device?

if not available with in the device, could you suggest a scheme where output current may not be limited with in +/- 20mA
