I am working to find a cross or at least a functional equivalent to the HCTL-2022, and was wondering if this family of devices would have the best options. This one in particular has a similar pinout to the Avago device.

Hi Megan,

The HCTL-2022 seems like a precursor to modern microcontrollers. What about using a low cost MCU?

TI does not make a similar device.

A quadrature decoder can be implemented in hardware with several logic devices (TIDA-00580), or in software (SLAA795). Some microcontrollers (TMS320, C2000) can have a built-in quadrature decoder module.

Thank you for your responses! We are actually shifting this discussion to the BDC driver team as we discovered they were implementing this device to monitor/control motor speed.
