CD4016b questions

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CD4016B, TS5A3157, SN74CBTLV3257

Hi team,

My customer wants to choose one chip to do the UART 2 to 1 now. The voltage is 3.3v. I check the datasheet of the CD4016b, and think the chip can be used for this application. Could you please help me double check it? Thank you.

  • Hi Frank ,

If you are operating at 3.3V and are referring to 2 to 1 switch then I will not suggest the CD4K devices . These are rated from 3 to 18V but are optimized for 5 - 15 volt operation with the ron and prop delays getting worse at lower voltages.
you could consider the popular 2:1 switch TS5A3157 which is a 2:1 switch which could work here .
SN74CBTLV3257 is also another choice which is 4 channel 1:2 switch. Let me know if this works.
