EK-TM4C123GXL: Installing driver

Part Number: EK-TM4C123GXL

Hi Experts,

May we ask for help? Our customer have concern as shown below:

I'm having trouble updating one of the 3 drivers for my tm4c123g launchpad (EK-TM4C123GXL), the driver that will not update is the "intel high definition DSP". i did it both ways. I installed both keil and the texas lab then i browsed for the drivers and the first 2 updated but the one with DSP will not update and it gives me that error, i also went to the official TI site and downloaded the drivers from there and they did not work as well.

I hope you can help us. Thank you so much.

Kind regards,
Gerald

  • HI Gerald,

I have never heard of intel high definition DSP for TM4C MCU. Where did you find these drivers? Are these drivers provided by TI or some 3rd party? Can you provide the link that I can look at it? If this is some Windows drivers provided by 3rd party, you may need to contact the vendor directly.

  • Hi Charles,

Thank you for your response. I am also not aware of this. I will be cooridinating this further with our customer and will update you.

    Kind regards,
    Gerald

  • Hi Charles,

Kindly see below for our customer response:

I followed instructions from my professor on how to install the drivers. I was instructed to install a software called Keil uVision. These are the instructions on what I should install http://edx-org-utaustinx.s3.amazonaws.com/UT601x/download.html  I was instructed to install something called TEXas and that is supposed to have the drivers for the EK-TM4C123GXL . After I have connected the TM4C launchpad I was instructed to open up device manager and update the 3 drivers there.  that is the driver I was not able to update. I also tried to go to the official site https://www.ti.com/tool/STELLARIS_ICDI_DRIVERS I went there and downloaded the current 2016 driver and did as instructed.

I browsed for the drivers downloaded from ti.com and clicked next but this is what I get

this is the link of instructions that i have been using.

I hope you can further help us. Thank you so much in advance.

  • Hi Gerald,

I will suggest you tell this student to talk to his professor for help. I have no understanding of Intel High Definition Device. Perhaps this student is looking at the wrong thing. For Keil uVision questions, the student should really talk to the TA or professor or Arm.

When you plug in the EK-TM4C123GXL LaunchPad, it will enumerate with the PC host and you should see in the device manager the "Stellaris In-Circuit Debug Interface" which is a composite device of both Stellaris ICDI DFU Device and Stellaris ICDI JTAG/SWD Interface. You should right-click on the Stellaris ICDI JTAG/SWD Interface and then select "Update Driver" to update the ICDI driver for Windows by providing the path to the location where the driver is installed. Make sure you don't update the Stellaris ICDI driver for Intel High Definition DSP device. I think this is where the student may have confused.
