Hello,
I am using the TMS570LC4357 and I am trying to reconcile the Safety Features and Diagnostics listed in the "Safety Manual for TMS570LC4x Hercules ARM Safety MCUs" (SPNU540A) with the ESM Channels described in the datasheet for the TMS570LC4357 Hercules (SPNS195C).
Question 1
The "Safety Manual for TMS570LC4x Hercules ARM Safety MCUs" (SPNU540A) describes the following two safety features and diagnostics.
Primary Flash FLA1 Flash Data ECC
Primary Flash FLA3 Flash Wrapper Address ECC
Table 4 states that the action on detected fault for both of these safety features and diagnostics is "CPU Abort / ESM Event".
Is the action on detected fault really an ESM event?
If so which ESM group and channel does this event correspond to?
None of the groups and channels in Table 6-45 of the datasheet for the TMS570LC4357 Hercules (SPNS195C) seem to precisely map to these diagnostics.

Question 2
The "Safety Manual for TMS570LC4x Hercules ARM Safety MCUs" (SPNU540A) describes the following two safety features and diagnostics.
Flash EEPROM Emulation (FEE) FEE1 Flash EEPROM ECC
Flash EEPROM Emulation (FEE) FEE7 Flash Wrapper Address ECC
Table 4 states that the action on detected fault for both of these safety features and diagnostics is an "ESM Event".
Which ESM group and channel do these events correspond to?
None of the groups and channels in Table 6-45 of the datasheet for the TMS570LC4357 Hercules (SPNS195C) seem to precisely map to these diagnostics.
Thank you.
Hi Andrew,
Question-1:
Is the action on detected fault really an ESM event?
Yes, it will create ESM event.
If so which ESM group and channel does this event correspond to?
For FLA1, ESM 1.6 or ESM 3.7 is set if ECC error (1-bit or 2-bit) occurs.\
For FLA3, ESM 2.4 is set if there is a address parity error.
Refer below thread for more details:
Question-2:
Which ESM group and channel do these events correspond to?
For both FEE1 and FEE7
If it is uncorrectable error, then Group:1 Channel:36
If it is correctable error, then Group:1 Channel:36
Refer below thread for more details:

Hi Jagadish,
Thank you for your reply.
However, the first thread that you provided a link to does not answer my question.
For FLA1 you state ESM 1.6 or ESM 3.7. ESM 1.6 is OK but 3.7 is reserved in the Datasheet for the TMS570LC4357 (SPNS195C).
The thread refers to the RM48L952 so I do not think that 3.7 is relevant to the TMS570Lc4357 that I am using.
For FLA3 you state ESM 2.4. The thread also states ESM 2.4 but then later states 3.7. Both 2.4 and 3.7 are reserved in the Datasheet for the TMS570LC4357 (SPNS195C). Again I think that the thread is only relevant to the RM48L952 and not relevant to the TMS570Lc4357 that I am using.
Also, the second thread that you provided a link to does not answer my question.
The thread states that "For the EEPROM emulation bank (FEE) we have Group 1, Channel 35 for correctable errors and Group 1, channel 36 for uncorrectable errors including address ECC errors.".
But 1.35 and 1.36 are reserved in the Datasheet for the TMS570LC4357 (SPNS195C).
It appears that the thread is relevant to the TMS570LS31x and TMS570LS21x and not the TMS570LC4357 that I am using.
Regards,
Andrew
Hi Andrew,
For FLA1 you state ESM 1.6 or ESM 3.7. ESM 1.6 is OK but 3.7 is reserved in the Datasheet for the TMS570LC4357 (SPNS195C).
The thread refers to the RM48L952 so I do not think that 3.7 is relevant to the TMS570Lc4357 that I am using.
Yes, you are right 3.7 is not correct, sorry about that.
Actually, for uncorrectable error it is 2.19 in TMS570LC.
The thread states that "For the EEPROM emulation bank (FEE) we have Group 1, Channel 35 for correctable errors and Group 1, channel 36 for uncorrectable errors including address ECC errors.".
You are right about this too, this will not be applicable to the TMS570LC.
I will discuss this with my internal team and get back to you on this, please expect some delay in response.

Hi Andrew,
Apologies for the delay.
The discussion is still on going and as it is a thanksgiving weekend i can provide you update by the end of the next week.
