BP-AM2BLDCSERVO: Is it possible to hook up a AM2BLDCSERVO with the TMDS243EVM?

Part Number: BP-AM2BLDCSERVO
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-00179,

Hello!

We want to investigate the possibilities outlined in SPRAD03. This appnote references the TIDEP-01015 3-axis board which is not documented on TI space. It uses also the TIDA-00179 encoder interface board. So we wondered whether the booster-pack BP-AM2BLDCSERVO could be used instead which seems to include a TIDA-00179 similar interface and how this would have to be hooked up to the EVM in SPRAD03.

Anyone familiar with the SPRAD03 or able to give us a hint?

  • Hi Friedrich,

The SPRAD03 is based on the obsolete modules, such as TIDEP-01015, TIDA-00179 and others. All the modules except AM243x EVM are not available on ti.com. The whole system set up is very clumsy. For those reasons, we started a new EtherCAT connected, single chip, dual servo motor drive reference design based on the AM243x LP and BP-AM2BLDCSERVO. The design guide and source code will be available to public in next Motor Control SDK 09.01.00 which is scheduled to be release by the end of December 2023.

In theory, it is possible to use BP-AM2BLDCSERVO with the AM243x EVM, but it needs an adaptor card to connect the AM243x EVM and the BP-AM2BLDCSERVO. There is no plan to support this connection in Motor Control SDK in the future.

In conclusion, the recommended way to use the BP-AM2BLDCSERVO is with the AM243x LP.

    Best regards,

  • Thanks Ming. So I was a little ahed of the market Slight smile
