I am currently looking at the Safety Micro's (Hercules range) for a new project (lift application).
We would like to achive a safety level of SIL 3 accoridng to the standard EN 61508 in continuous mode.
The safety TI safety documentation states the devices are certified for SIL 3.
Could this actually be achieved using 1 single micro-processor, or will 2 be required for redundancy?
Also, do any of the Hercules devices have more than one safety core?
We would be using some of the peripherals of the micro for safety (e.g inputs, outputs, and serial port).
There will also be associated hardware for the inputs and outputs (e.g. electronic components and relays etc).
