Expand EK-LM4F120XL with CC3100 and LCD sharp96 boosters

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC3100BOOST, CC3100

Hello,

I bought this evaluation board: TEXAS INSTRUMENTS EK-LM4F120XL

Now, I want to expand it and I think that I can connect it with these 3 boards:

 - TEXAS INSTRUMENTS CC3100BOOST

 - ELEMENT14 BOOSTXL-BATTPACK

 - TEXAS INSTRUMENTS 430BOOST-SHARP96

Could you confirm that is possible to stack all 4 boards?

Thank you very much.

Most likely you can stack the CC3100 boosterpack and Fuel Tank Booster Pack, as from what I know both are designed to current booster pack standards.

This however from what I know cannot be stacked at those two booster packs above.

To be sure that these three booster packs can be stacked, checked the pin connections at the User's Guide.

  • If you look at the schematic for GPIO pin (J1, J2, J3, J4) and other boards, you can stack two boards on EK-LM4F120XL or preferably expand them on auxiliary board, but make sure you correctly correspond VCC, GND and control signals to other board.

  • Do note that your EK-LX4F120 has joined "dinosaur crue" - no longer walk this planet.  May be better to "invest" in newer boards - w/supported devices.

I'd be concerned about the power management with potentially "excessive" stacking of such boards.  May be prudent to construct a power budget for each board - and determine if your power source is adequate.

And note - should your boards (even some of them) be powered individually - your power sequencing may require attention...

  • EK-LX4F120 it may be old but this is what I already have; it fits for one application.

I will be prudent regarding the power source. First off all, I hope that I can use the Fuel Tank BoosterPack. If not, I already have the option of mains power. I know that the CC3100 need special attention. I remember that it can consume up to 400mA!

""dinosaur crue" - no longer walk this planet"  Good one.

    Thanks for the tips.

  • Hi. Thanks for the tips.

These are the pins for CC3100 booster pack:

And these are for the LCD sharp96:

I would say that will work, since the VCC and GND are correct. Just need to be careful for the enable pin and how to handle the SPI.
