Tiva C Series Connected Launchpad (TM4C1294NCPDT) Power source question

Hello TI Community,

I would like to thank the community for the great support all this while, really appreciate the help I received here.

I have looked through the power source select in JP1. I have a few questions regarding the power source for the launchpad:-

1.) Is it possible to run debugging through U22 (DEBUG PORT) while supplying power through U7(Micro USB connector)? Referring to this connection, I am supposed to change JP1 position to position 2 right?

2.) Say I want to use BoosterPack power source, I should place JP1 to Position 1 and connect 5V input to PB1(VBUS)? In this connection, will I be able to perform debugging? Am i wrong to say that connecting usb debugging will not supply power to the board at all?

3.) Is there any code initialization to use the VBUS (PB1) as power source?

Thanks in advance for the help, I need to be extra careful as I am afraid of damaging the port, hence the need of professional advice. :)

  • Hello Jeunn

Yes, even if the JP1 is in position 1 or 2, debug is possible. The Debug SB connector will still have 5V but that will not be used to power the LaunchPad. There is not code initialization required.
