Using USB to serial with serial to wifi adapter for remote programming/debugging of Tiva TM4C?

I'm going to be setting up a remote installation and thought it would be convenient to be able to remotely connect to the TM4C debugging port UART0, and perhaps even remotely load new programs.

I am thinking of using this cable:

With this adapter:

Then I could use virtual com port software to set up a com port on my PC to connect to the Tiva for debugging.

Has anyone tried a setup like this before?

  • Hello Lee

Though I do not know of anyone in my surroundings having done that, but it sounds and seems rather very interesting. This surely requires me to bring up reading skills upto the units selected.

So If I gather the information: the UART0 from TM4C is connected over the UART 2 USB cable to the wifi device? I do not see a USB connector on the wifi unit (only RS232)

    Regards

  • Yes, that is the idea. I ordered the cable, going to give it a shot once I have all the pieces. I'll report back on what I find!

  • Hello Lee,

But the Wifi unit does not have a USB port. So how are you interfacing TM4C via USB?
