TMS570LC4357: TMS570LC43 Chip incompatibility.

I have a batch of TMS570LC4355BZWTQQ1 chips I am using that do not function the same way as another batch of TMS570LC4357AZWTQQ1 chips.

Both are listed as valid part numbers in the "Safety Manual for TMS570LC4x Hercules ARM Safety MCUs" - spnu540a.pdf

The unexpected behaviour exhibits it self with CPU data aborts on access to any address in the 0xFC52_0000 - 0xFCFF_E8FF range. Discovered when trying to operate ECAP1 through HALCOGEN generated code. MPU settings are correct and the addresses should be valid accesses.

Identical code flashed onto both chips with the TMS570LC4355BZWTQQ1 chip issuing data aborts and the TMS570LC4357AZWTQQ1 chip successful using / accessing ECAP.


Are the chips different? Is the possibly TMS570LC4355BZWTQQ1 defective?  I expect both chips should behave as described in the TMS570LC43 manuals. Whats happening here?
