TM4C129ENCPDT: Ethernet connection problem.

Part Number: TM4C129ENCPDT
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EK-TM4C129EXL, EK-TM4C1294XL

Hi,

I am facing a problem related to Ethernet connectivity. I have designed a board with the Ethernet connection same like the launchpad "EK-TM4C129EXL". the only change is the connector used is supporting magnetics within it.  (Connector manufacturing part no. 5-6605425-1 ) . while testing with the sample program "enet_lwip" the link is not establishing. I am getting a message via UART0 that  "Ethernet lwIP example#CR#LF#CR#LFWaiting for IP.#CR#LFWaiting for link.#CR#LFWaiting for IP address.#CR#LF",  Some help is very useful. Please help me to resolve the issue.

  • Hi Kurian,

EMAC0 has been verified to support two transformers specifically:

U10 May be populated with either HX1188FNL or HX1198FNL.
HX1198FNL preferred for best Ethernet performance.

Check the EK-TM4C1294XL schematic use of U10. You might can get 5-6605425-1 to work if you change some components, verify the amplitude of the carrier and data pulses refer Tables 27-53 figures 36/37 in electrical specifications of data sheet. LWIP is likely failing to receive carrier signal on the device layer 0 of TCP protocol. Also ensure you have Rbias resistor 4.87k 1% installed at MCU pin 59 and it is not shorted to adjacent pins.

  • Hi,
Are there LEDs on 5-6605425-1 connector? Do they even blink?
