TM4C123GH6PM: Voltage Supply for TIVA C LaunchPad

Part Number: TM4C123GH6PM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: EK-TM4C123GXL

May I use the Battery 18650 whose range is 3.2 - 4.2V to directly supply kit TivaC launchPad without boost 3.3 - 5 boost via VBus and GND ?
May it damage the board ?

  • Hi,

The power source go through a on-board TPS73633DRB 3.3V voltage regulator. The input to the voltage regulator can range from 1.7V to 5.5V. Therefore, if you supply 3.2-4.2V to the 5V pin it should be fine. What is your application? Why do you want to supply power to the board other than the Debug or the Device USB power. Normally, the 5V pin is used to supply power to an attached boosterpack board. If you connect a battery to the 5V pin then how would you debug the board? The MCU has a Vbat pin which would ideally take the battery power. However, in this board, the Vbat pin is tied to the 3.3V VDD pins. I will suggest you review the ek-tm4c123gxl schematic for details. http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/spmu296/spmu296.pdf
