2MTR-DYNO: Not working hall sensor in the motor

Part Number: 2MTR-DYNO

www.ti.com/.../2MTR-DYNO This motors.

I wanted to control the speed of the Teknic motor M-2310P-LN-04K.

Before I started with the closed loop I used the open loop to check the hall and encoder signals.

Unfortunately the Encoder signals are always at almost 5 V and they don't change when the motor rotates. On the contrary to hall signals which are changing when the motor rotates. For Hall and Encoder interface I used the configuration de.mathworks.com/.../hardware-connections.html

Both motors with SN:520671C and SN:519440C have the same problem. I have a third motor with SN: 465119C, whose encoder interface works with the same setting.

The motor is not working. We are supplying 5V for the encoder. But no signal arrives on the terminal of the encoder.

I think the encoder is damaged. We did a simple test only supplying 5 V and rotating the motor by hand.

The old motor we had was working by hand as well as with the inverter used. I do have the old one and it works properly. With the same setup both new motors are not working.

Anything I’m missing?

  • Hello Vanya Ilieva Dimitrova,

Are all these three motors you tested of the same type of Teknic motor M-2310P-LN-04K?

If so, based on your description, the two new ones may get damaged.

Where did you get them? Are you sure they are alright before you tested them? Did you make any wrong connections in the tests?

Anyway, you can check the encoder ports by measuring the resistances of each encoder pin (8, 13, 14, 15, 16) to GND (pin7) and 5VDC (pin12) using a multimeter, and make comparison between the three motors.

    Best regards,

    Jerome Shan

  • Thanks for your quick answer.

I measured the resistance on the described ports and it was always infinitely. Therefore I checked the wiring harness between the motor and the board. Unfortunately, I found in both a loose connection exactly at the GND.

Could you please send me new 2 wiring harnesses ?

Where should send the broken wiring harnesses?

    With best Regards

  • Hello Vanya Ilieva Dimitrova,

Where and when did you get them? Maybe you can contact your purchasing channel and get support for it.

E2E is a design support platform.

    Best regards,

    Jerome Shan
