TIDM-BIDIR-400-12: 400V-800V- 12V DCDC- EV Power Management

Part Number: TIDM-BIDIR-400-12
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP23126, TIDM-02013, SFRA

Good Evening,

We are in need of DCDC- Bidirectional which will be used in 400V/800V EV system, Kindly share any reference design which we can have a headstart on this requriements.

1. V Max = 420V-800V -Vin to 12V Vout (Vice versa)
2. I Max = 300Amps
3. P Max = 3.6 KW

We need AC-DC connverter as well

1. VAC in = 85 to 260V
2. I-In @100V = 16 Amps
3. Freq = 47 -63 Hz
4. DC Out = 200V to 450V DC
5. DC out Max current = 30 Amps

We are planning to incorporate both in single enclosure but different PCBAs and seperate external interfaces.

Muthuraj M

  • The BIDIR design is our bi-directional HVLV DCDC module. There are some other HVLV options, but none show off the full bi-directional software. PMP23126 is another option: https://www.ti.com/tool/PMP23126

TIDM-02013 shows off a good working PFC similar to your specs: https://www.ti.com/tool/TIDM-02013

Software can be found in the Digital Power SDK. https://www.ti.com/tool/C2000WARE-DIGITALPOWER-SDK

  • Good Evening CODY,

Thanks for the response, Kindly let me know what is the limitations and Design considerations if i am customizing the Form factor of  TIDM BIDIR-400-12 (PCBA-HEATSINK,ENCLOSURE).

Reason - We are planning to integrate the DCDC with PDU (Battery Charging,Discharging and other Loads)

Do i have the flexibility to take the reference design and modify the form factor.

Whether TI Team will support on the development if any EMI EMC issues and Stability issues observed while working along with PDU. Kindly provide your advice on this.

  • Do i have the flexibility to take the reference design and modify the form factor.

This is a reference design, which is intended to be an example to show off functionality of they system. It is not intended to be used in an end application, it would be expected that customers use this as a reference when creating a custom board of whatever formfactor they so choose.

Whether TI Team will support on the development if any EMI EMC issues and Stability issues observed while working along with PDU. Kindly provide your advice on this.

On the forum we can help with technical implementation questions and issues with the functioning of the products., Furthermore have tools like SFRA and compensation designer to aid in stability of the control loop.

If you are expecting someone to design a new control architecture or to mitigate EMI issues in some hardware that you have designed I believe the support will not meet your expectations. Please reach out to your local sales or technical rep if you need more in depth support, but generically understand that TI is a component manufacturer who develops and supports the use of its products, not a contracted system developer.

    Regards,
    Cody
