TMS320F28377D: Error while connecting XDS110 DEBUG PROBE

Part Number: TMS320F28377D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28379D,

Hi All,

Previously i used TMS320F28379D device and  connected  the device using TI XDS110 Debug probe. While connecting error occured. It is solved by changing the value of resistor(R27) to 10K in the following JTAG connection. But now when using TMS320F28377D and same debug probe an error showing as shown below. Please help to solve this

  • Hi,

TRST must be maintained low at all times during normal device operation, so an external pulldown resistor is required on this pin for protection against noise spikes. The value of this resistor should be as small as possible, so long as the JTAG debug probe is still able to drive the TRST pin high. A resistor between 2.2 kΩ and 10 kΩ generally offers adequate protection. Since the value of the resistor depends on the drive strength of the debug probe, TI recommends that each target board be validated for proper operation of the debug probe and the application.

In other words, R27 can only be as small as your debug probe allows. For programming the device, it is not really necessary at all. R27 protects your device during operation.
