Hi Expert,
Customer confused what's the difference between the internal and external 1.2V power supply, and how to choose a suitable one for their application? For example, if system requires high accuracy and stable of 1.2V supply, they need to use external, otherwise use internal?
I'm not sure, could you help to clarify it for us? Thanks!
Best Regards/Rayna
Hi Rayna,
Most customers use an external supply because of increased efficiency. The internal LDO is only about 30% efficient and since the majority of the current is consumed on the VDD rail, if efficiency is important to your application, you should consider an external supply.
BTW, the F20049 has an internal DC-DC which offers about 80% efficiency so that is also an option.
Hi Frank,
Thanks for your explanation.
As you said, the one difference is the power efficient, customer wonders that is there any other different thing among these three supply ways.
Best Regards/Rayna
Hi Frank,
What I mean is that if there is any other difference between internal and external 1.2V supply except the efficiency?
Thanks!
Best Regards/Rayna
Rayna,
No, the internal supply is designed to work perfectly fine with the device so the reason customers switch is for increased efficiency.
