MSP430FR2355: How does the SAC DAC use DMA transfers?

Hi team,

The SAC DAC supports DMA data transfer as described in the MSP430FR4xx and MSP430FR2xx family User's Guide, but no corresponding DMA controller was found. The customer would like to know the way SAC DACs transfer using DMA.

Could you help resolve this case? Thanks.

Hi Cherry,

The User's Guide lists all modules that are in any MSP in the FR4/2xx family, but that doesn't mean that every FR4/2xx device has all of the modules listed in the User's Guide. The SAC DAC will use DMA only for devices containing a DMA. Here's the note in the User's Guide:

But only MSP430FR2355 and MSP430FR2353 with SAC capability, and the customer dose not find a DMA controller between these 2.

Hi Cherry,

The User's Guide is meant to be a more "generic" document that explains different modules and their features available while the device datasheet discusses the features/specs actually on a specific part. Currently, the SAC is only available on select devices which do not have a DMA.
