MSP430F5659: Mitigation from MSP430F5635 -> MSP430F5659

Part Number: MSP430F5659
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430F5635

Hi team,

Due to the on-going supply situation, we're planning to migrate from the MSP430F5635 to the MSP430F5659. Are there any migration guides we should reference? Are there any potential issues of compatibility, function, power consumption we need to be aware of?

For reference, we plan to operate at 16MHz and never enter sleep mode (on 100% of the time).

Thanks,

Jacob

  • Hello Jacob,

    No migrations guides are available as these devices are form same parent family. These devices are very similar, so migration would be minimal. Main difference between these two sub-families is one contains LCD and the other does not. My quick glance at pinout seems to show they are the same for common features. (Make sure to do due diligence on confirming same pinout.)

    You would most likely need to recompile your code for the new target, and maybe change some pinout designations if something is different. Other than that, the code written for one should be useable on the other since they are so similar.

  • Thanks Jace! Appreciate the help!
