MSP430F5418A: Product EVM

Hi Team,

Our customer is looking for an EVM for this device MSP430F5418AIPNR. I searched our product folder and found none.

Is there an EVM that is similar to MSP430F5418A that we can offer?

    Hi Marvin,

    The F5418A is an 80pin variant of the F5438A (a 100pin 'superset' device).  Typically, only the superset devices in a family have EVMs or target socket boards for customers to develop with.  I believe several years ago there was a MSP430F5438A EVM, but that has been discontinued.  There is the  TS430PZ5X100 target socket board for the F5438A.  The customer could use that to develop code, then port to the F5418A when they have their own PCB.

    Regarding similar EVM, it depends.  What is the reason the customer is choosing the F5438A?  In other words, what are the key features they are looking for?  It's possible other MSP430F or even MSP430FR devices might satisfy what they are looking for.  But they will have the same issue if they choose a smaller pin-count variant of a superset device.  There won't be an EVM.
