MSP430FR5992: The error rate for the UART baud rate

Genius 5635 points

Hi experts,

Please let me confirm the thought on the error rate for the UART baud rate. I think the MSP430 eUSCI deviates a little from the ideal when the baud rate is generated.

Q1:Which of the following figures is appropriate for the error rate concept?

  • The difference between the ideal and reality of the sum of the times of each bit.
  • The difference between the ideal and reality of the data read timing for each bit.

Q2:Regarding when data is sent in succession, is it correct to think that the start bit for the next data transmission is triggered from H to L, so the accumulated error from the previous data transmission is reset? Sending/receiving 1 byte is within the acceptable range, but I would like to check if sending (receiving) XX bytes continuously may cause framing error.

Best regards,
O.H
