MSP-EXP430FR5969: reading temperature

hi,

I'm using MSP-EXP430FR5969 launch-pad, and I want to know if I can read the internal temperature of the microcontroller.

I noticed that it was written on the data sheet but still I don't understand if it possible in the launch-pad, and if so, how to implement it.

Hi Dor,

Yes, you can read the internal temp on the MSP-EXP430FR5969 Launchpad.

Please see section 1.4 and 3.3. Here you will also find software examples you can start out with.

thank for your reply.

I saw this user guide before and I tried to implement this example code in my program and it didn't work,

it's stuck in line __bis_SR_register (LPM3_bits | GIE);

Do you have any idea what this could be? Or can you refer me to another example of code?

Rather than the somewhat more complex example code for the launchpad, I would use the example code for the device. msp430fr59xx_adc12_10.c has a simple example using the temperature sensor.

Which is really just an example of using the ADC with the tiny extra detail of selecting one particular input on the mux.

Hi Dor,

Did you change anything? That is odd. The line above is used to enter a low power mode and/or enable interrupts. So something is preventing that from happening.

I agree with David's comment below, I would use our most up to date examples on ti resource explorer. I have not used the examples on the user guide so I am not sure.
