MSP-EXP430F5529: The unknown device (device descriptor request failed) occur when MSP-EXP430F5529 was connected to PC

Part Number: MSP-EXP430F5529

Hi expert,

I have the trouble with MSP-EXP430F5529. The unknown device (device descriptor request failed) occur when MSP-EXP430F5529 (eZUSB & 5529 USB) connected to PC.

The power selection has tried LDO and eZ. The operating system has tried WIN7, 10, 11.

I have installed ccs and tried to manually update the driver, but the result is still the same.

The following image is related to the information on usb device tree

Hope to get some advice, thank you!

  • Hi Yuyen,

You can refer to user's guide, it describes how to use it and the corresponding resources (include hardware connection and code example).

When you want to compiler and debug, you should connect it to PC via ez-FET (USB or JTAG, configure CCS project property correspondingly), and connect to PC via 5529USB when works as a USB device.

    Best Regards,

    Sal

  • You can try standalone target 5529 device. Connect by jumpers GND, 5V and 3V3. Connect LP to PC, press together both BSL and RESET button, and release RESET button first, and than BSL. Target device should automatically enumerated by any OS as HID device and enter to BSL mode that can be used on PC side by BSL scripter or  Win GUI Firmware Upgrade Example (part of MSP430 USB Developers Package). If target 5529 device is blank it should enter to BSL mode automatically (after reset / power up) without pressing any buttons.

  • Hi Yuyen,

We have not heard from you for a while, so I assume you found a solution and I am closing this thread now.

You can re-open it or simply start a new one if this one got locked.

    Best Regards,

    Sal
