MSP430G2452: Could you prepare a written opinion of the specific specifications of MSP430G2452IRSA16?

Part Number: MSP430G2452
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430FR2476

Hi,

In the MSP430G2452, it seems that internal power is not supplied to each part of the CPU via a constant voltage regulator in order to stabilize internal operations.

(There is no description of the above regulator on the datasheet.)

Also, there seems to be no description of external parts for voltage stabilization.

Therefore, it is necessary to have a constant voltage regulator inside as a circuit element. It is judged, but assuming that this is correct,

"The regulator (voltage converter) for voltage stabilization inside the CPU is Not implemented.

Would it be possible for you to prepare a written opinion of TI with the wording ?

Thank you.

  • Hello,

I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for, but all relevant information about this device's power system is contained within the datasheet. Please see the POR/BOR section of the datasheet and the BOR section of the User Guide for the family. Also keep in mind there is a requirement to keep a certain voltage depending on the frequency you are running the device. See Recommending Operating Conditions and Figure 1: Safe Operating Area in the datasheet for details.

This device does not have an SVS peripheral as some other devices in the associated family do (Or other more feature rich MSP430 families). So to meet the requirements outlined above, you must ensure you have a stable voltage going into the device.

  • Dear Jace H.

    Thank you for your reply.

However, it's not the answer I'm looking for.

  • Hello,

What I have outlined above is the requirements needed for voltage coming into the main power pin of the MSP430. Use this along with the Recommended Operating Conditions section of the datasheet for full voltage requirements. Following this ensure proper operation of the device.

  • Hello,

For example, the MSP430FR2476 contains a PMM when looking at its block diagram.

The power supplied to the CPU core is made in this. To that end, the manual states that a regulator is included.

However, the block diagram of the MSP430G2452 does not mention the PMM, nor does it mention the regulator that creates the power supply to the CPU core or anything else.

So it's pretty obvious that the MSP430G2452 doesn't have a regulator inside, but the manual doesn't explicitly state that there is no PMM or regulator.

What I'm looking for is a statement from TI that the MSP430G2452 does not include a regulator.

    Thank you.

  • Hello,

As you can see from the block diagram of the MSP430G2452, it does not contain a PMM or SVS of any kind. Just basic BOR circuit.
