MSP-TS430RGC64C: Regarding the implementation of Q2 clock(300-8219-1-ND)

Part Number: MSP-TS430RGC64C

Hi experts,

My customer is planning to implement and evaluate a crystal oscillator (300-8219-1-ND) for Q2 clock on an MSP-TS430RGC64C.
However, on the evaluation board, Q2 is a through-hole and does not appear to be mountable.

Could you tell me how to mount the SMD type?
If SMD type mounting is not possible, could you give me another recommendation for possible mounting?

We refer to ”P116:Table B-28. MSP-TS430RGC64C Bill of Materials” in "MSP430 Hardware Tools User's Guide (Rev. AH)".
The 300-8219-1-ND is listed as Supplier No. for Q2.
We are confused because 300-8219-1-ND is an SMD 4-pin.

Best regards,
O.H

  • Hello O.H.,

That part number is an error on the BOM. Unfortunately, I cannot get the correct part number for this Xtal.  As you mentioned, since what's on the board is through hole type, you would not be able to mount an SMD crystal to this board. A custom board would need to be made to accomodate an SMD crystal.

  • Hello Jace H,

Thank you for your reply. I understood.

Proceed in the form of using a  through hole type product in reference to an oscillator used on another target board.

    Best regards,
    O.H
